Recreation on Useppa Island
If fishing just isn’t your thing, Useppa Island includes plenty of other recreational options whether on the water, the beach, or even indoors.
Kayaking
Kayaking is a popular vantage point to discover the island both inshore and beyond. The island store offers kayak rentals along with other necessities, boutique items and souvenirs.
By Sail or Board
Nothing surpasses a sail to fully appreciate the turquoise waters of Useppa Island. Catboats dot the miles of open water on a winter afternoon… for a leisurely excursion with family and friends or even the biannual Catboat Regatta.
Stand-up paddleboarding offers the newest way to tour the island’s shallow flats. Whether a solo journey or with a group, you’ll enjoy a solid low-impact full-body workout while connecting with nature.
Onshore Activities
Back on shore, outdoor games and recreation can be found in the classic traditions that have drawn families together for generations. All ages can play bocce ball, tennis, croquet and life-size outdoor chess, or take a swim in the Useppa Island Club private pool. With bikes and golf carts replacing motor vehicles… pathways are pleasantly uncrowded and laid back. Children can explore and meet new friends in the kind of relaxed environment unique to a private island getaway.
If a brisk bike ride or walk on the beach isn’t enough, take your workout to the Useppa Island Fitness Cottage with a full suite of moderate, intermediate and advanced equipment options.
